OUR APPROACH

Clarity First.
Action Next.

Fire safety support for the people managing commercial premises.

Fire Protection With A Practical Purpose

Glasgow Fire Safety Services focuses on commercial premises and the people responsible for them. We help you define fire safety work around your building, its use and the records you need to manage it. Our service pages explain the questions to ask before arranging an assessment, inspection or maintenance visit.

We welcome enquiries from facilities managers, contractors, commercial landlords, schools, offices and industrial sites. A useful starting point might be a current report, a recurring fault or a planned change to the premises. Share that context so the proposed next step addresses the actual need.

A Scope You Can Understand

Fire safety decisions involve equipment, building fabric and everyday management. An inspection should state what was examined and what could not be verified. A maintenance record should identify defects and completed work in terms that the person managing the premises can follow.

Our approach starts with clear requirements and an agreed scope. Ask what records you will receive, who will explain the findings and what follow-up work is excluded. The dutyholder remains responsible for acting on findings and keeping fire safety arrangements current.

The Right Framework For Glasgow

Scottish commercial premises need the appropriate Scottish legal framework. Part 3 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 apply to most workplaces. The precise duties and suitable precautions depend on the premises and the parties with control.

Relevant technical standards include BS 5839-1 for non-domestic fire alarms, BS 5306-3 for portable extinguisher maintenance and BS 5266-1 for emergency lighting. The required scope should identify the applicable edition and any system-specific instructions. A reference to a standard is not a claim of third-party certification.
